(Des Moines) Four people died on Iowa’s roadways over the weekend.
Three people died in a fiery head-on collision in Delaware County between a Chevy Impala and a 2018 Freightliner semi. The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at 3:36 p.m., Sunday, on Westbound Highway 20 near the 287-mile marker. Three occupants in the Impala died in the crash. The driver of the semi suffered injuries. According to the Iowa State Patrol, the Impala traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes on Highway 20 collided head-on with the semi. Both vehicles exploded in flames. Authorities did not release the victims’ names. The accident remains under investigation.
One person died in a single-vehicle crash in Worth County. The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at 2:45 on Sunday on Southbound Interstate 35 and 410th Street. The driver, whose name was not released, lost control of the southbound 2017 Cadillac CT6 near the 208 Exit Ramp. The car entered the median through the cable barrier and struck the bridge pillar. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
