(Collins-Maxwell) One year ago, Collins-Maxwell entered the week seven district matchup with Audubon winless in district play. This time, the Spartans face a more favorable position in the hunt for the playoffs with only one district loss.
Spartans Head Coach Greg Davis says his team has much on the line when they take the field at Audubon tonight.
Coach Davis said last season was a little rough with a small group of seniors on the squad. Despite their youth, they came out and played competitively against the Wheelers in the first half. Davis says they carried the late-season improvement into this year.
Coach Davis says one significant area for improvement is the front line. He says the coaching staff looked for someone to step up and lead the offensive line, and a couple of players came through for them. The Spartans have already surpassed last season’s total.
Collins-Maxwell knows they have a tough task against an undefeated Audubon team tonight.
Turnovers are a significant factor in games like these, and the Spartans have an impressive 21 takeaways this season, ten fumble recoveries, and 11 interceptions. On the other hand, Audubon has one fumble recovery and 11 interceptions.
The kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m. at Audubon.
