(Red Oak) Red Oak Fire Chief John Bruce released the cause of the Fire that destroyed a house in Red Oak early Wednesday morning.
The Red Oak Fire Department responded to the fire call at 104 B Street at approximately 4:21 a.m. Upon arrival, fire crews found a single-story residential structure with the front of the building fully involved in Fire. The two adults and one child occupying the home were quickly accounted for and self-evacuated before the emergency crews arrived. EMS examined the occupants, but they were not transported.
Bruce says the fire originated on the front porch in an outlet area with an extension cord plugged in. He says the Fire originated from an electrical failure in this area, grew in size from the combustibles on the front porch, and then breached the front windows, allowing the Fire to progress into and throughout the residence.
Auto-aid was received from Stanton FD and Elliott FD, and additional mutual aid was received from Emerson FD and Essex FD. The Fire was deemed under control at 5:28 a.m. Fireground operations were terminated at 7:21 a.m.
The family has been placed in contact with the Red Cross.
