(Atlantic) The Atlantic Fire Department is gearing up for “Fire Prevention Week,” which started on Sunday with the annual donation breakfast and ends on Saturday evening with the Firemen’s Parade. The 2024 Fire Prevention Week theme is “Smoke Alarms, Make Them Work for You”!
Atlantic Fire Department Lt. Jake Vetter says to check your smoke alarms to ensure they are in working order.
During the week, the Atlantic Fire Department visits the elementary students, educating them on fire prevention and the importance of working fire alarms.
The Firemen’s Parade starts at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 12, in downtown Atlantic. Vetter says the “Destruction Drill Team” will perform again. The clowns will be walking up and down the parade route, along with area fire departments, and more. The lineup starts at 4:00 p.m. at 3rd and Olive Street.
