(Audubon) The State Fire Marshal received a request from Audubon County Emergency Management Coordinator Tyler Thygesen, representing each of the county’s fire departments, requesting the State Fire Marshal to prohibit open burning in Audubon County.
During the investigation, the State Fire Marshals Office found that conditions in Audubon County make open burning a danger to life or property.
Under the ban, open burning in Audubon County is prohibited after 1:00 p.m. on October 1.
The open burn ban is in place until Audubon County notifies the State Fire Marshal that dangers to life and property no longer exist.
According to the Iowa Code, violating this proclamation order is a simple misdemeanor.
