(Oakland, IA) — A potential district title is on the line tonight as #1 AC/GC visits Riverside in Class A, District 7, coverage on KSOM.
Going into week five, the Chargers and Bulldogs are the only undefeated teams in district play. AC/GC has moved into the top ranked spot in Class A after Woodbury Central got upset last week. That puts a target on their back and Head Coach Cody Matthewson doesn’t like that target
Audio PlayerMatthewson says his team has made way too many mistakes this season — last week it was a 28-14 win over South Central Calhoun but after building a 14-0 lead, the Titans moved the ball in the 2nd quarter and threw a couple of TD’s to tie it up. The Chargers wore them down for the win. Matthewson says that the team they saw last week was different from the team that Riverside beat
Audio PlayerRiverside is led by Tailback Jaxon Gordon who has 803 yards this season, averaging 7 yards a carry with 14 rushing TD. Matthewson says its obvious that they need to stop him but its not going to be the sole focus
Audio PlayerThe Bulldogs have one loss this year — that was to AHSTW three weeks ago but since then, its been wins against hard nosed teams South Central Calhoun and IKM Manning. Head Coach Darrell Frain believes its been a learning expierence
Audio PlayerAC/GC will run their triple option attack. You know its coming. They know that you know its coming. The question is can you stop it. Three guys — Mike Fuller, Jathan South, and Joe Crawford have combined for over 1,300 yards in the first four games and 15 TD. Frain says to stop it starts up front
Audio PlayerFrain knows a lot is on the line for this game but facing the number one team at home doesn’t faze him
