(Denison) Iowa State Patrol Trooper and District #4 Public Information Officer Shelby McCreedy says twelve people died in three different types of vehicles over the weekend. McCreedy says this is something they never want to address; however, those numbers often come up during a holiday weekend when law enforcement is staffed to deal with increased traffic.
Trooper McCreedy says this is a good reminder that driving safety is paramount every single day.
McCreedy says the State Patrol’s goal is to keep fatalities under 300 per year, and as of last Friday, 40 fatalities below 2023 were looking pretty good. The twelve fatalities increased that number to 242.
