(Corning, IA) — Southwest Valley will need to turn things around quick after three straight losses to three decent football teams. After a week one win over Red Oak, the Timberwolves have lost to South Central Calhoun, Grand View Christian and last Friday fell 41-6 to #10 Earlham.
Granted, Valley did not have starting QB Wyatt Mendenhall who also left a void on defense. Freshman Wyatt Shires got the start and was only 4-13 passing for 52 yards and 1 INT. On the ground, Shires had 62 yards on 15 carries while Junior Cael Hogan had 16 carries for 64 yards and the only score. Head Coach Keegan Longabaugh said that Shires did not play badly considering he was kind of thrown to the wolves
On defense, the Timberwolves continue to be led by Seniors Beau Johnston and Devin Greenwalt. Johnston has been limited by injuries but he has 24 tackles and 5 TFL while Greenwalt has 25 tackles and 5.5 TFLs for the season
The schedule will lighten this week as the Timberwolves visit winless Panorama. But Longabaugh says the bench is thin, numbers are down and he needs his boys to stay healthy in order to compete against anyone
1-3 Southwest Valley visits 0-4 Panorama this Friday.
