(Des Moines) A driver escaped with minor injuries after crashing their SUV into a 20-foot hole in a Des Moines construction zone early Thursday morning. The accident occurred at University Avenue and 39th Street around 5:47 a.m., where a storm sewer project is underway. Fire department personnel assisted in retrieving the driver, and police reported no signs of impairment. The incident is currently under investigation.
