(Corning, IA) – Southwest Valley fell to 1-2 on the season as Grand View Christian came back from a 22-6 halftime deficit and topped the Timberwolves 40-22. Southwest had to take starting quarterback Wyatt Mendenhall out of the game because of an injury and his status this week is still up in the air. Head Coach Keegan Longabaugh says he has a broken nose at least and they will have to determine if he can play this Friday against Earlham. Longabaugh says they have contingency plans with Sophomore Walker Bissell and Junior Cael Hogan having experience at the QB position
If Mendenhall can’t play, it will affect the defense as well as he is one of the team’s top tacklers. Longabaugh says Beau Johnston has been forced to play just one way because of a bad back so that has affected the offensive line. Longabaugh says there are not a lot of options if there are more injuries
Southwest Valley 1-2 hosts Class A #10 ranked Earlham 2-1 in a District 7 match up on Friday night.
