(Anita) The CAM football team heads into week four with two straight wins. After falling to Audubon in week one 38-20, the Cougars posted a 58-14 win over Griswold and a 66-24 victory over East Mills last week. Head Coach Barry Bower says every single week, you get some of these young players’ valuable repetitions, which is crucial to any team.
Cougar quarterback Makade Paulsen is one of those players. The senior quarter is 21-35 passing for 240 yards and five touchdowns. Additionally, Paulsen has 58 carries for 400 yards.
Next up for CAM is a trip to Coon Rapids-Bayard. Coach Bower notes the speed of the Crusaders as one challenge. He says they have a lot of athletes who are dangerous when they break into the open field. Caden Oswald is one of the speedsters on this Crusader football team. The sophomore running back has 57 carries for 467 yards and five touchdowns. Ethan Bower has 35 carries for 242 yards, and Wyatt Oswald has 37 carries for 152 yards.
Bower says Coon Rapids-Bayard’s quickness in the backfield and their front-line size make it difficult to defend.
Coon Rapids-Bayard carries a 1-2 record into week four. The Crusaders have rushed for 859 yards and passed for 119. Coach Bower says it will be of utmost importance to tackle well, keep everyone contained in the pocket, limit the penalties, and take care of the football.
The kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m. at Coon Rapids.
