(Underwood, IA) — After two straight losses to ranked opponents, Underwood football got going last Friday with a 40-13 win over St. Albert. Senior Will Buckholdt came back from an injury and instantly contributed 24 carries for 149 yards and 1 TD. Junior QB Garrett Luett was 13-27 passing for 166 yards, 3 TD and 1 INT. Senior Easton Robertson had 5 catches for 80 yards and one score. Head Coach Nate Mechaelsen says getting off to a good start was crucial in the win over the Falcons
On defense, the Eagles finished with 10 tackles for a loss — Senior Lucas Bose had 5 tackles and 3.5 for a loss while Junior Grady Joens also had 5 tackles and 3.5 for a loss. Mechaelsen says the kids bought into the game plan
This week is another tough and ranked opponent as Underwood hosts Class 1A #9 AHSTW, a District 8 opponent. Mechaelsen says the Vikings Luke Sternberg and Camden Soukop are two of the most dynamic playmakers they will see all season long
