(Harlan, IA) — A year ago, Lindsey Sonderman nearly got a state championship. She finished second to Marissa Ferebee of Pella by just 4 seconds. Now she is on mission to get to the top of the podium, or as they say at the Iowa state cross country, to the top of the deck.
Sonderman is off to a great start this year, she was ranked 2nd in the pre-season polls and she finished 2nd in her first meet at Glenwood but with a PR time and she says the other runners helped to push her to run faster
Sonderman says its a good starting point for the season and believes she can get even faster. Even though cross country can be an individual sport, Sonderman thrives on her relationships with her teammates and Harlan has a good team, ranked 5th
As a senior and a state medalist, everybody looks up to her and she says taking on a leadership roll has not been easy
Sonderman says she hopes to run in college but has not decided on anything yet. Next up for the Harlan cross country team , the Cyclones run at LeMars next Tuesday.
