(Red Oak) Six people were treated for minor injuries following a chain reaction crash in Red Oak on Monday.
According to the Red Oak Police Department, the accident happened around 12:06 p.m. on Highway 34 and North 8th Street. The six victims suffering from minor injuries are identified as a 16-year-old female and two other juveniles, B.J. Martenson, Pamela Wheeler, and Nathan John Hossle.
Police say A 2005 GMC Yukon driven by the 16-year-old female southbound on 8th Street waiting to cross Highway 34, pulled away from the stop sign into the path of a 2012 GMC Sierra pickup pulling a trailer, and driven by 51-year-old Barry J. Martinson, of Lincoln, Nebraska. The pickup struck the Yukon in the front fender, causing the pickup to cross the centerline, striking an eastbound 1997 Ford F250 driven by Hossle waiting to turn north. The Ford pickup struck an eastbound Panel Van driven by 45-year-old Dustin Meader of Fremont, Nebraska.
The GMC pickup and the Ford pickup ended up in the south ditch, the Yukon came to rest in the north ditch, and the Panel Truck ended up on the Road.
A private vehicle transported the teen and two juveniles to the Montgomery County County Hospital, while Red Oak Rescue transported Martinson, Wheeler, and Hossle. Meader was not hurt.
Police cited the 16-year-old female for Failure to Yield Upon Entering a Through Highway.
