(Greenfield, IA) — It has been nearly three years since Nodaway Valley football has tasted victory but new co-Head Coach Jack West is optimistic about a turnaround this year.
After a 4-5 season in 2021, the Wolverines have lost 17 straight games. In 2022, they only had 82 total rushing yards. Last season that number improved to 739 but the passing game took a step backward with only 97. It will fall on Senior Eli Harris to make some steady improvements this season and West is excited what he has seen in practice
Running back will be split between two Juniors Ashton Honnold and Titus Hamer and West says they each bring something different to the position
Senior Trenton Warner leads the offensive line and defense and is one of the most physical players in Class 1A District 7. Warner had 15 tackles for a lost last year while Honnold had 15.5. West, meanwhile, is a young head coach who played a couple of seasons at Morningside and then moved to graduate assistant. This is his first coaching job — he’ll share the position with Brad Honnold
Nodaway Valley opens Friday night visiting the Mount Ayr Raiders.
