(Anita) Anita and Wiota Firefighters were called to a residential fire early this morning in Anita. The call went out around 2:20 a.m. to a residence at 206 Cherry Street.
Anita Fire Chief Eric Steffenson tells KSOM/KS95 News that when they arrived, a young man stated that everyone was out of the home except two dogs upstairs. Chief Steffenson says they were able to quickly knock down the fire and rescue the dogs safely.
Steffenson says there is heavy fire damage to the living room, and smoke damage throughout the entire house.
Chief Steffenson says the cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
