(Elliott) Fire Departments from Elliott, Red Oak, and Grant responded to a report of multiple hay bales on fire in the 1100 block of Lumber Avenue at around 4:17 p.m. on Monday.
Red Oak Fire Chief John Bruce says that arriving units reported three bales on fire and others still burning on the trailer. Firefighters extinguished the fire with the help of farmers using a tractor.
The mutual aid departments were released from the scene at 5:11 p.m., but the Elliott Fire Department remained conducting mop-up operations.
No injuries were reported—the haybale trailer sustained minor damage. The fire destroyed three of the bales.
Montgomery County Emergency Management, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, and Montgomery Communications assisted.
