(Omaha/Valley) The National Weather Service issued an Excessive Heat Warning for extreme western Iowa from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday. Those counties include Page, Fremont, Mills, Montgomery, Pottawattamie, Harrison, and the counties bordering the Missouri River to the north. Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 110 are expected.
Except for a handful of counties in far eastern Iowa, the rest of the state is under a Heat Advisory with heat index values reaching 105 to 110 degrees.
