A memorial service for 79-year-old Ann Marie Elliott will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at the Oakland United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Carson Cemetery at a later date. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is assisting the family with arrangements.
Ann Marie Elliott, the daughter of Anthony and Carmela Frances (Pecoreli) DeBasio, born in Flushing, Queens, New York, on December 7, 1944. Ann died on August 10, 2024, at her home in Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the age of 79 years, 7 months, and 24 days.
Ann grew up in Newburgh, NY, with her parents and sister Amelia. She graduated from Newburgh Free Academy High School in 1962. Ann moved to Iowa in the mid 60’s, and then took classes to get her Home Care Aid certificate. She settled in Carson until she met John Elliott. On October 13, 1984, Ann and John were married in Red Oak. They lived in Villisca and Shenandoah before settling in Council Bluffs. Ann worked as a Home Care Aid, doing home care and hospice work, and later worked medical records at the VNA in Council Bluffs. She retired in 2009. She loved taking care of people and volunteered there after her retirement.
Ann loved to shop…whether it be for food, clothing, or whatever. She was the best cook, especially when it came to Italian food, her heritage! She was an excellent bowler, and enjoyed playing pool, crocheting, camping, traveling and shooting with compound bow for competition with her husband.
Ann is preceded in death by her parents and her in-laws. She is survived by her husband John of almost 40 years; her daughter Theresa Carr of Council Bluffs; her son James Carr of Clarinda; her daughter Lisa Ebbling of Shenandoah; her step-daughter Susie Elliott of Omaha; step-son Boyd Elliott and wife Kelly of Omaha; her 21 grandchildren; 19 ½ great-grandchildren; her sister Amelia and her husband John Egiziano of Wallkill, NY, and their children Tricia (Tony) Squilante of Grayson, GA and John (Leslie) Egiziano of Litiz, PA.
