(Atlantic) Atlantic Head Cross Country Coach Dan Vargason welcomed 19 boys and eleven girls to preseason practice last week. Coach Vargason says the low number of girls on the roster presents some challenges for consistently fielding a team.
The boy’s roster features a mixture of experienced and newcomers.
With so many first-year runners, it leads to a different approach to preseason workouts.
Coach Vargason ran the team through an early season time trial to learn more about this squad.
Coach Vargason says Katrina Williams appears to be the top runner on the girl’s side and looks strong early on in the season. Behind Williams are second-year runners Bella Brock, Ella Brummer, Hailey, and Mariah Huffman, followed by some younger runners.
The Trojans will hold their final time trial on August 27, with the first meet at Glenwood on August 31.
