(Creston) A man from Union County has been arrested in connection with a shooting that took place in Creston on Thursday.
Daniel McDowell, 22, from Lorimor, Iowa, was taken into custody by Creston police officers and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation agents at around 2:30 p.m. He was arrested without incident at the Union County Law Enforcement Center and processed into the Union County Jail. McDowell is facing one count of attempted murder and a probation violation.
At 7:37 a.m. on Thursday, officers from the Creston Police Department were dispatched to the 800 block of North Lincoln Street after receiving reports of gunshots. While officers were on their way, they were informed about an adult male at the Greater Regional Health Center who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The man received treatment from medical professionals and was airlifted to a hospital in Des Moines for further treatment. He is expected to recover.
In response to the shooting, the Greater Regional Health Center (GRHC) and other local businesses were briefly placed on lockdown while officers secured the area. This is an ongoing investigation, and no additional information will be released.
