(Des Moines, IA) — Nearly 50 children from around the world became United States citizens at the Iowa State Fair on Monday.
The kids, aged 10 to 18, from 17 different countries, stood with their parents as they took the oath of citizenship. Immigration Services officials highlighted Iowa’s welcoming nature for these new citizens.
The children held certificates signifying their new status as American citizens at the fairgrounds.
