(Avoca, IA) — AHSTW will lose a large chunk of their starting line-up this year — Eight Seniors depart an 11-22 club so Head Coach Kelsey Fraher must look to her young players to pick things up in 2024.
Offensively, Delaney Goshorn (242 kills) was the primary hitter and the Vikings lose their top five hitters from last season. Fraher will turn to Senior Loralei Wahling (46 kills) and others to generate offense this season
AHSTW used three different players at the setter spot last year but it will Sophomore Kendra Hansen (188 assists, 115 digs, 13 aces) to handle the spot this year. Fraher says she is a great all around volleyball player and will be counted on heavily
The Vikings do return their Libero Senior Grayson Gettler (271 digs). Goslorn led the team in blocks as well with 50 so that is an area to improve according to Fraher. Overall after losing so many seniors, Fraher says this year’s team must learn to play together
AHSTW opens up their volleyball season on Tuesday, August 27 at Southwest Valley.
