(Guthrie Center, IA) — Last season, the ACGC Chargers football came a whisker away from going to the Dome and the Class A Semifinals, falling to Madrid 21-14 in the quarters. The Chargers believe they have the team to go a step further in 2024.
Head Coach Cody Matthewson has plenty of top talent returning this season and is ready for practice to start next Monday
The ACGC triple option offense is tough to stop because it features a four headed rushing monster in the backfield but only two part of that is coming back. Anthony Solarzano (1,010 yards) and Nate Chance (569 yards) both depart but the Chargers have Mike Fuller (1,051 yards) and leading rusher Jathan South (1,159 yards) leading the way this season
Matthewson says his boys have a chip on their shoulder coming into this season after losing late in the 4th quarter last year to Madrid
Practice starts next Monday, August 12 for ACGC and the season begins Friday, August 30 with a non-district game at Ogden.
