(Atlantic) Atlantic Mayor Grace Garrett is one of six Mayors statewide participating in the Iowa State University College of Design, which, in partnership with ISU Extension and Outreach, hosted the Iowa Mayors’ Design Workshop last week on the Iowa State University campus.
Mayor Garrett, speaking at Wednesday’s City Council meeting, says this was an amazing experience and a good opportunity for the city of Atlantic. She says each of the six mayors shared their project, including Atlantic’s, which is improving Bull Creek.
The mayor says Bull Creek has been a topic of discussion for several years, and now is the time to improve it for the city’s sake.
Mayor Garrett says there may be another opportunity to work on a partnership for another grant.
The Iowa Mayors Design Workshop will serve as a space to identify and address complex design issues communities in Iowa face. The two-day workshop will bring together mayors and community leaders from six Iowa towns to connect with ISU faculty, research and extension staff, and design professionals from local firms to enhance the vitality of their regions for current and future generations.
