(Harlan) The Harlan City Council approved the low bid for the 2024 Sanitary Rehabilitation Project at Tuesday’s City Council meeting.
Harlan City Administrator Gene Gettys says they had five bids for the project. The top three bids were within $13,000 of one another, resulting in a less than one-and-a-half percent variation on a one-million-dollar project.
The Council awarded the contract to Municipal Pipe Tool Company., LLC of Hudson, Iowa.
In other business, the City Council approved a resolution supporting the Grant Application for the State of Iowa Disaster New Housing Grant Program. Gettys says this is one of two new housing programs Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds recently announced.
Gettys says one of the laundry lists of items required to receive the grant is a letter of support from local communities. He says there is no financial commitment on behalf of the city or the taxpayer. Gettys says the developer expects to invest approximately $450,000 for four dwelling units subject to the town’s particular construction and design standards. The City Council supported the grant application by S&R Baker Real Estate.
