(Monona Co) The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa says 35-year-old Allen Jones, of Ute, was sentenced Friday to 16 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to kidnapping.
On July 7, 2023, Jones forced his co-worker at gunpoint to drive him to a casino, intending to commit a mass shooting. He changed plans to confront a former girlfriend and instructed the victim to buy food and beer. The victim escaped and sought help, leading to Jones’ arrest. Authorities found methamphetamine, firearms, and contraband in his possession and home. Jones has a history of drug use and prior felony convictions.
Jones will also serve five years of supervised release after his prison term.
