(Area) Many residents in southwest Iowa are still without power following Wednesday evening’s storms.
MidAmerican Energy reports 659 customers in Pottawattamie County are without power, 272 customers in the City of Lewis are affected, 232 in Harrison County, 10 in Page County, 8 in Mills County, and 6 in Montgomery County.
MidAmerican Energy noted crews made great progress overnight in the Des Moines area, going from a peak outage of nearly 18,000 to now only 700. Contractor crews from Ohio, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Michigan and Indiana are helping with restoration.
Due to downed lines, tree damage and broken poles that need to be repaired, MidAmerican is estimating that most customers will be restored by 9 pm tonight. Crews will continue their work until all customers are restored.
