(Council Bluffs) A Council Bluffs man was sentenced on July 16, 2024, to 120 months in federal prison for distributing methamphetamine. According to public court documents, 44-year-old Lawaun Maurice Webster distributed approximately 70 grams of methamphetamine from his residence in Council Bluffs, Iowa. During a search warrant at his residence, law enforcement recovered a loaded firearm near other drugs and drug paraphernalia.
After completing his prison term, Webster will serve five years of supervised release, as there is no parole in the federal system. The announcement was made by United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa. The case was investigated by the Southwest Iowa Narcotics Task Force, Division of Narcotics Enforcement, and the Council Bluffs Police Department.
