(Atlantic) This is the 75th anniversary of the Cass County Fair, which kicks off on Thursday. There will be some activity at the fair on Wednesday starting at 9:00 a.m. with the 4H/FFA Static Exhibit Judging and the Clover Kids Static Showcase. The Bucket of Junk Judging is held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
A full list of activities is scheduled for Thursday, starting with the swine weigh-in from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. The Rabbit check-in is at 8:30 a.m., the Poultry Check-in is at 10:00 a.m., the Meat Goat and Dairy Goats are at 10:30 a.m., and the Sheep weigh-in is at 12:30 p.m.
The Horse Show, food sale, and the opening of the static exhibits are set for Thursday afternoon. The evening will be capped off with the crowning of the Queen and King, following the Little Miss and Little Mister contest starting at 7:00 p.m. Senior recognition at 8:00 p.m., and Youth Dance at 9:00 p.m.
This year’s Queen Candidates are Rachel Becker, Lily Johnson, Makayla Atkinson, Brooklynne Peterson, Claire Pellett, Quincy Sorensen, Ryleigh Harrison, and Olivia Olson. The King candidates are Jace Thomsen, Brock Henderson, Jack Brahms, Joaquin Wailes, and Nollan Smith.
The contestants were interviewed multiple times, both individually and in a group setting. They were evaluated on various characteristics, including leadership, attitude, communication skills, poise, and involvement in fair activities and the community.
The Cass County Fair runs through July 30.
