(Red Oak) Red Oak Police responded to a call about a physical assault at 305 E. Nuckols Street on Tuesday. When officers arrived, the tenants refused to let law enforcement in, and one of the men tried to escape from the back of the building.
After locating illegal items, the officers obtained a search warrant for the unit. This led to the arrest of 36-year-old Jason Rolfe Aherns and 28-year-old Dylan Elwood Taylor.
Aherns was arrested on a valid Adams County warrant for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), 3rd offense, a Class D felony, and domestic abuse assault, 1st offense. He was transported to the Montgomery County Jail and held on no bond.
Taylor faces charges of a felon in control of a firearm or offensive weapon, a Class D felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Red Oak Police Department with the investigation.
