(Des Moines) Late Monday afternoon, a strong to severe storm system brought large hail and high winds to portions of west central and central Iowa.
The storm fired up in Crawford County around 3:42 p.m. The public reported 2.50-inch hail in Vail, two-inch hail in Westside, one-inch in Arcadia in Carroll County, and a 63-mile-per-hour wind gust two miles northeast of Manning.
The storm moved southeasterly, with 54-mile-per-hour winds reported three miles northwest of Adel. The highest wind gust was reported in Poweshiek County, where a 78-mile-per-hour wind gust was reported one-mile northeast of Searsboro.
Montgomery County Emergency Management reported a funnel cloud six miles southwest of Grant.
