(Atlantic) Members of Veteran Flagpole Initiative (VFI) installed a flagpole today in honor of Jim Tyler of Atlantic, a WWII veteran who passed away in March.
The flagpole is located next to the new Atlantic welcome sign on the corner of Highway 6 and Highway 71 on the east side of Atlantic.
Audio PlayerBlaine Garrett, a member of Veteran Flagpole Initiative, said their mission is to install flagpoles for veterans across Iowa at no cost.
Audio PlayerGarrett said their goal is to have at least one flag in all 99 counties. So far, they have flags installed in around 30 counties.
