(Greenfield) The Iowa Insurance Institute is donating ten thousand dollars to the American Red Cross in Iowa to support cleanup and recovery efforts following recent severe weather damage. (Video of Greenfield, seven weeks after Destructive Tornado)
Tornadoes in Greenfield and flooding in Northwest Iowa have caused significant destruction. This has prompted the Red Cross to set up shelters in affected communities. The donation aims to assist those impacted by the natural disasters and aid in the ongoing recovery process.
The City of Greenfield and the Adair & Guthrie County Emergency Management Agency are organizing a 12-day volunteer cleanup effort before RAGBRAI comes to town.
They need volunteers of all skill levels to help clear the debris left by the tornadoes that struck on May 21, damaging or destroying nearly 400 homes and properties.
Volunteers are needed from July 10 to July 22 and can check in at the Volunteer Check-In Center at 801 NE 6th Street, the temporary location of the Greenfield Fire Department.
