(Iowa City, IA) – University of Iowa head football coach Kirk Ferentz is among the 21 coaches named to the 2024 Dodd Trophy Preseason Watch List.
The Dodd Trophy honors a coach who achieves success on the field while emphasizing scholarship, leadership, and integrity. The watch list is based on graduation rates, community service, projected success for the 2024 season, and Academic Progress Rate (APR). Ferentz, in his 26th season, is the longest-tenured head coach in college football, having coached 13 national award winners and 89 NFL Draft picks. He has led Iowa to Big Ten championships in 2002 and 2004, and Big Ten West Division titles in 2015, 2021, and 2023.
With 196 wins, Ferentz is Iowa’s all-time winningest coach and is close to surpassing Amos Alonzo Stagg for second in Big Ten total victories. In 2023, Ferentz led Iowa to 10 wins and a Citrus Bowl berth. He has led Iowa to 21 bowl invitations, including 13 January bowls, with eight seasons of 10 or more wins. Ferentz was named the Bobby Dodd National Coach of the Year in 2015 and has been Big Ten Coach of the Year four times.
The Hawkeyes open the 2024 season on August 31st against Illinois State at Kinnick Stadium.
