(Des Moines) The National Weather Service in Des Moines issued a Flash Flood Warning for Adair, Northwestern Adams, and Southern Cass Counties until 10:15 a.m.
At 4:32, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing between two and four inches of rain across the warned area. This rain is causing flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses, as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Greenfield, Stuart, Griswold, Fontanelle, Lewis, Orient, Massena, Cumberland, Bridgewater, Nodaway Park, Greenfield Municipal Airport, Cold Springs State Park, and Griswold Park.
The National Weather Service asks motorists to know their surroundings and not drive on flooded roads.
Turn around, and don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
