(Des Moines) Sentencing for former Adair Police Chief Brad Wendt is today.
In February, a Federal grand convicted Wendt of conspiracy to make false statements to the ATF, eight counts of making a false statement to the ATF, and illegal possession of a machine gun. A sentencing report noted that Wendt exploited his position to buy and sell machine guns for himself and his friends, all for their personal use.
According to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Iowa, sentencing is set for 9:00 a.m.
