(Pottawattamie Co) Pottawattamie County Conservation Board President Eric Hough told the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday that they have hired a Conservation Director.
Jeff Franco will take over for Mark Shoemaker who retires on August 30th following 31 years of service.
In other news, Planning and Development Director Matt Wyant spoke to the Board about implementing a wind policy for the Recycling Center.
Wyant said the site manager asked to put a wind policy in place so if it is a really windy day and patrons have loose items to dump then they will be turned away and asked to come back at a time when it isn’t blowing as much.
Wyant said they are currently getting pricing for some trees to go along the northern boundary for a wind break and they are also looking at some potential slats to go in the fence.
The Supervisors also approved the Law Enforcement Services Contracts between Pottawattamie County and the cities of Avoca, Carson, Crescent, Hancock, Macedonia, McClelland, Minden, Neola, Oakland, Treynor, Underwood and Walnut.
