(Greenfield) The public is invited to an information meeting on June 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the Nodaway Valley High School Auditorium. Adair-Guthrie County Emergency Management Director Jeremy Cooper says the conference will discuss tornado recovery with local leaders. Cooper also mentioned that FEMA and the Greenfield Recovery Group members will be present to answer questions.
Cooper says another reason for the meeting is to garner information from the citizens on their housing intentions moving forward.
Cooper mentioned that they would like to clear up any confusion regarding FEMA and the assistance it can provide. For example, some individuals have received letters of denial. However, Cooper clarified that these are not necessarily denials; in many cases, the letters request additional information. He emphasized that it’s important for people to follow up with the Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) at the Elementary Center.
Additionally, citizens will be informed about the “Greenfield Recovery Group,” which initially focused on housing but has now transitioned into an overall recovery group.
Cooper suggests that the meeting could result in the establishment of another Multi-Agency Resource Center. However, the primary objective of the community meeting is to assess people and guide their recovery efforts.
