(Atlantic) Warrior Expeditions has facilitated cross-country biking experiences along the Great American Rail-Trail route across the United States. Although the Great American Rail Trail is still under construction, the planned route includes Cass County. This year, seven veterans are embarking on the biking expedition, with Callie Leaver and Allen Megginson recently completing a leg of their journey from Coon Rapids to Atlantic on June 10th.
Starting their adventure in Washington, D.C., on May 8th, Callie and Allen are covering approximately 50 miles a day, with an expected total of 3850 miles over 12-15 weeks. They carry all necessary gear on their bikes, supported by Warrior Expeditions’ outfitting.
During their ride, Callie highlighted the beauty of Iowa’s bike trails and the friendliness of Iowa drivers, including considerate gestures from truckers who slowed down for them.
