(Atlantic) Atlantic drilled 22 hits and scored a combined 19 runs in a doubleheader win over Shenandoah in high school softball on Monday night. The Trojans topped the Fillies, 9-1 in the first game and 10-0 in five innings in the nightcap.
Riley Wood led the Trojans at the plate in game one with a single, homerun, and 2 RBI. Peyton McLaren picked up the win in the circle, allowing one run on three hits while striking out four and no walks in seven innings. The Trojans scored nine runs on ten hits and committed no errors.
In the nightcap, Wood picked up the win in the circle, allowing no runs on two hits and striking out four while allowing no walks in five innings.
Zoey Kirchhoff led the Trojans at the plate with a single, two doubles, and three RBI. Peyton McLaren went 2-4 with a single, a double, and two runs scored. Claire Pellett was 2-4, with a triple, and a single, 2 RBI, and drove in the winning run in the bottom of the fifth. Jillian Saathoff went 2-3 at the plate with a single and a double.
The Trojans’ record has been extended to 15-7 and 8-2 in the Hawkeye Ten Conference, tied with Creston and one game behind Clarinda.
