(Atlantic) Atlantic residents can set off fireworks on private property four days over the July 4th Holiday. By a 6-1 vote, the Council approved a resolution to allow citizens to light fireworks from noon to 11:00 p.m. on July 3, July 4, July 5, and July 6.
Councilman Gerald Brink voted no. Brink has received from constituents wanting to reduce the number of days allowing the use of fireworks.
The law bans the discharge of fireworks within 300 feet of a hospital or long-term care facility. The ordinance also states no person under 18 shall discharge DOT 1.4 class fireworks without adult supervision. Consumers must follow the directions on the package, and sky lanterns without a tether rope are strictly prohibited.
