(Des Moines) The National Weather Service forecasts multiple chances for severe storms and heavy rainfall today. The main threats are damaging wind gusts and localized flash flooding. Rainfall totals of one to three inches are forecast. Large hail is possible this afternoon, with a conditional tornado threat late tonight.
The second round of storms will be in northwest and north central Iowa. Later this afternoon and evening, another round of storms will move into western to west central Iowa. Another round of storms is forecast from 12:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m.
