(Glenwood) The Mills County Sheriff’s Office arrested former Pacific Junction Fire Chief Ernie Gencarelli, age 67, on charges of Ongoing Criminal Conduct, Theft in the First Degree, and Money Laundering. The Mills County Attorney’s Office held a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.
The former fire chief is accused of laundering charitable funds to help the town with essential services and flood relief. The Mills County Sheriff’s Office investigation led to the discovery of at least $40,000 in questionable transactions. Gencarelli is expected to make his first court appearance today.
