(Atlantic) Memorial services were held nationwide today to remember those who died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. The Atlantic Boy Scout Troop #54 led off the ceremony with the presentation of the American Flag, followed by the playing of our National Anthem by the Atlantic High School Band at the Atlantic cemetery this morning.

The keynote speaker was Ryan Graham. An Avoca, Iowa native, Graham served in the U.S. Army and 15 years in the Iowa National Guard. He served three overseas tours, two of which were combat missions.
The American Civil War leads all wars with an average of 425 deaths per day, while the First and Second World Wars have averages of roughly 100 to 200 fatalities per day.
