(Myrtle Beach, S.C.) – Former Audubon Wheeler, Gavin Smith, earned a top-tier finish in Myrtle Beach for the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track Championships.
Gavin was able to move up over eight spots in the men’s decathlon to earn a podium finish and First-Team All-American honors with 6,808 points with his sixth-place overall finish. This marked the fourth All-American performance by a Dutch decathlete since 2018.
Coach Sturman commented on Smith’s performance in the race, “He had a great day two. He gutted it out in the 1500 meters to move up a few spots. It’s awesome to see him have this much success.”
Central College featured multiple athletes in the championships and even featured multiple athletes on the top of the podium at the end of the championships.
