(Atlantic) A talented group of track and field athletes entertained the large crowd at Thursday’s girl’s Class 3A State qualifying meet at Atlantic.
ADM automatically qualified in ten events, Glenwood drew automatic tickets in eight events, Carroll six events, Atlantic four, and Harlan three.
ADM won the 4×800 and Shuttle Hurdle and finished runner-up in the 800 Sprint, 4×200, 4×100, and 4×400-meter relays; individually, Elise Coghlan won the 100-meter hurdles, Madi James championed the 400-meter hurdles, Coghlan finished runner-up. Lauren Hagedorn won the discus, and Aniston Tollari finished second in the long jump.
Glenwood started strong, winning the 800 Sprint Medley Relay and Grace Berglund’s championship in the 3000 meters. The Rams followed up with Allison Koontz’s second-place showing in the 100 meters, Danika Arnold’s second place in the 400 meters, championed the 4×200, Arnold’s first place in the 200 meters, Berglund second in the 1500, and wrapped up the meet with a first place finish in the 4×100 meter relay.
Carroll qualified in the 800 Sprint Medley and 4×400, Marie Dea placed first in the 400 and 800, and Olivia Rowedder placed first in the discus and shot put.
Atlantic received automatic tickets with a first-place finish in the Distance Medley Relay with Morgan Botos, Lila Weiderstien, Nicole Middents, and Claire Pellett. Second place finishes in the Shuttle Hurdle Relay with Botos, Wiederstein, Adler Bruce, and Jaci Reed. Additionally, Reed finished runner-up in the 100-meter hurdles, and Pellett second in the 800.
Lindsey Sonderman of Harlan won the 1500, finished second in the 3000, and anchored the Distance Medley Relay team to a second-place finish with Stork, Inesen, Wagner, and Sonderman.
