(Atlantic, IA) – The Audubon Wheelers traveled to Atlantic High School on Monday to begin regional action and fell in both doubles and singles action.
Audubon utilized Rachael Rynearson in singles action but unfortunately fell in the first round in two sets of action. In doubles play, the Wheelers had some promise in the first round of play after Ava Slater and Geralyn Anderson were able to play some tight tennis in a third-set tiebreak, ending up with the victory. When it came down to quarterfinal action, both Ava and Geralyn fell in two sets. On the other side, Grace Zaiger and Sammy Warnaca lost in the first round of action in two sets of play.
Briley Belnap was also featured in a pigtail match to earn her spot in the bracket. She was able to win in two sets to push herself into bracket play where she was able to win the first round in two sets of play. Belnap was the only Wheeler to make it to make it to the quarterfinals where she fell in a third set tie break in a match that went all the way down to the wire.
While Audubon didn’t feature any winners, they were able to compete all the way down to the end on Monday and featured some key performances throughout the day.
