(Lewis) Iowa Department of Natural Resources Fisheries Biologist in Southwest Iowa John Lorenzen advises anglers to string up their lines and start catching crappies.
Lorenzen says they have good reports from Meadow Lake, Prairie Rose, Viking Lake, and Greenfield. He says the recent rain events are an excellent time to stock up on nightcrawlers.
Lorenzen says nightcrawlers like temperatures of 40 to 60 degrees, so if you choose to use them throughout the spring, it’s a good idea to throw ice packs on top of the cooler and alternate ice packs daily.
