(Maryville, MO) – A total of six Northwest Missouri State baseball players have been named to All-MIAA Conference honors. Casey Stalzer, Jacob Gajic, Trey Morris, and Ryan Williams were all named to the third-team while Caden Diel and Cole Slibowski earned honorable mention.
Starting with the MIAA Conference honors, Casey Stalzer leads the conference in strikeouts with a total of 97 which ranks for the fourth-best single-season total in the program’s history. The Des Moines native had a total of six wins this season with an ERA of 6.11 and is sixth in the nation in strikeouts per nine innings. Going to Jacob Gajic, he has now earned conference honors for the third straight year. He currently averages a strikeout per inning with 52 appearances and 53 strikeouts. Gajic has 17 career saves and is number ten in Division II career leaders in saves with a total of 64 appearances in his career. Trey Morris ranks second in the MIAA in RBIs and is 44th in the nation. He currently is hitting .332 with 68 hits and leads the Bearcats in home runs with 11. Lastly of the third-team members, Ryan Williams leads the Bearcats in batting average at .390, hits with 69, in runs with 48, and 11 total home runs. He ranks second in the MIAA in on-base percentage and 26th in the nation.
With the honorable mentions, Caden Diel missed the early part of the season and returned to bat .363 with 29 hits in 80 at-bats and has reached base in 16 straight games. Lastly, Cole Slibowski finished the year with a .284 batting average on 55 hits and came into today’s MIAA Tournament on a seven-game hitting streak. He has a team-best 36 hits when leading off in an inning this year.
The Bearcats finished their season today with a 21-30 record after falling to the Missouri Southern State Lions 10-4.
